Price gaps between buying a unit and a house on the northern beaches

The price gap between selling a unit and buying a house on the northern beaches is closing making it easier for families to jump out of a unit and into a house.

A four-bedroom family home on the northern beaches has a price guide of $1.485 million and it is attracting families to sell their units and townhouses for good money.

Fresh figures from CoreLogic RP Data show that the median house price on the northern beaches has slipped back 8.2 per cent in 12 months to the end of October 2017 to $1.87 million.The unit median price has also slipped back but not by much.

According to CoreLogic RP Data the northern beaches unit median is now $915,000 and has dropped by 5 per cent in 12 months.

Many young families are looking at houses with a big garden for children and a short walk to local shops located on the northern beaches.

Suburbs which are popular with families buying their first house include Narraweena, North Narrabeen and Beacon Hill where median house prices range between $1,572,500 and $1.57 million.
